You can reach Rose on Signal at rosebroderick.11.<\/p>\n<p>A study tracking nearly 250,000 Swedish people using ADHD medication for 14 years found that these treatments can <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapsychiatry\/fullarticle\/2835661\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reduce risks<\/a> of traffic crashes, injuries, and criminal behavior \u2014 and that conclusion remained true even as more girls, women, and adult men received a diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish we had access to this kind of data for the U.S.,\u201d said Ryan Sultan, who was not part of the study and is a psychiatrist and professor at Columbia University Irving Medical Center where he specializes in ADHD. \u201cBeing able to follow them from birth means that their data is really, really powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The study arrives as providers in the United States contend with twin realities: ADHD medication prescriptions are <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapsychiatry\/fullarticle\/10.1001\/jamapsychiatry.2025.0054?guestAccessKey=33abeac9-4ad8-4e29-a5dd-a7426f6275a3&amp;utm_source=for_the_media&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=ftm_links&amp;utm_content=tfl&amp;utm_term=031925%5C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skyrocketing<\/a> \u2014 largely thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massgeneralbrigham.org\/en\/about\/newsroom\/press-releases\/prescribing-adhd-medications-via-telehealth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">telehealth<\/a> and diminishing stigma \u2014 while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2025\/01\/28\/health-news-dei-nih-who-children-with-adhd-adderall-rfk-jr-vaccine-safety-morning-rounds\/#:~:text=2022%2C%20the%20FDA%20announced%20a,for%20a%20drug%20called%20Focalin.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medication shortages<\/a> are imperiling people\u2019s access to these critical treatments.
