It can just be as much as a wristband,” Commander Lundquist suggested. “But something like that just to be able to see in the low light areas have them show tell the importance of maybe walking in the oncoming traffic, but on the sidewalk or in the grass area. That way, people can see them, and they can see the vehicles coming at them.”

42 students were hit by vehicles on their way to or from school during the 2024-205 school year, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, with three of those students killed. Now, Jacksonville law enforcement and school leaders are looking to improve on those numbers for the 2025-2026 school year.

[DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks]

[SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Click here to download the free Action News Jax news and weather apps, click here to download the Action News Jax Now app for your smart TV and click here to stream Action News Jax live.

Two Duval County Public Schools students have been hit by cars, and a middle schooler was killed during…

[5136
5229,88792,56179,3188,723,7310,88791,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-151335","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-jacksonville","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-commander-lundquist","10":"tag-duval-county-public-schools","11":"tag-fl","12":"tag-florida","13":"tag-jacksonville","14":"tag-scott-lundquist","15":"tag-united-states","16":"tag-united-states-of-america","17":"tag-unitedstates","18":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","19":"tag-us","20":"tag-usa
["GET
