When it was returned in June, it came with a letter, which the library <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mysapl\/posts\/1165907995560822\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shared on social media<\/a> Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The writer, identified as P.A.A.G. from Oregon, said they found the book in their father\u2019s possessions after he died.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe book must have been borrowed by my Grandmother,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n<p>In 1943, the writer\u2019s father was 11 years old and their grandmother was transferred to Mexico City to work at the U.S. Embassy there. The writer assumes she took the book with her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope there is no late fee for it because Grandma won\u2019t be able to pay for it anymore,\u201d the letter says.<\/p>\n<p>While a note inside the book says the fine for \u201cover detention\u201d is 3 cents a day, the San Antonio Public Library stopped charging late fees in 2021.
