{"id":15184,"date":"2025-06-26T03:04:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T03:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/15184\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T03:04:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T03:04:11","slug":"marion-bartoli-predicts-how-coco-gauff-will-have-reacted-to-aryna-sabalenkas-latest-apology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/15184\/","title":{"rendered":"Marion Bartoli predicts how Coco Gauff will have reacted to Aryna Sabalenka\u2019s latest apology\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Aryna Sabalenka sparked controversy with her comments after the 2025 French Open final.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After three sets of thrilling action on Court Philippe Chatrier, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/coco-gauff-posts-emotional-message-on-instagram-after-winning-the-french-open-title-against-aryna-sabalenka\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coco Gauff defeated Sabalenka<\/a> to clinch her maiden Roland Garros title.<\/p>\n<p>Disappointed with the result, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/andy-roddick-gives-his-verdict-on-aryna-sabalenkas-behaviour-towards-coco-gauff-after-losing-the-roland-garros-final\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sabalenka made various comments after the match<\/a>, which were widely criticised.<\/p>\n<p>Sabalenka described the conditions as \u2018horrible\u2019, suggesting it was the \u2018worst final she had ever played\u2019 and claimed Iga Swiatek would have beaten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gauff<\/a> had she won their semi-final match.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"626\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-2215912044-1024x626.jpg\" alt=\"Aryna Sabalenka talks to the press during Media Day ahead of the French Open at Roland Garros.\" class=\"wp-image-101497\" \/>Photo by Robert Prange\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>After Sabalenka\u2019s initial statement taking accountability for those comments was poorly received, she revealed that she had personally sent a letter to Gauff during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/berlin-tennis-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Berlin Open<\/a> recently.<\/p>\n<p>As the tennis world looks ahead to a potential clash between the pair at Wimbledon, one former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA<\/a> star has given her verdict on the world number one\u2019s latest apology.<\/p>\n<p>Marion Bartoli thinks Coco Gauff will have \u2018appreciated\u2019 Aryna Sabalenka\u2019s apology<\/p>\n<p>During the BBC\u2019s Wimbledon preview, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/marion-bartoli\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marion Bartoli<\/a> commented on the French Open controversy between Gauff and Sabalenka.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a tough one. I am not going to be the one going out and blaming her. We have all been in a situation where you lose the match, you just feel sad, and you just say something you regret,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s good from her that she sent an apology. I think Coco [Gauff] will probably have read those apologies and will appreciate those apologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-963595920-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"Marion Bartoli watches on from the stands during the 2018 French Open\" class=\"wp-image-105188\" \/>Photo by Matthew Stockman\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The 2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> champion shared her thoughts on Sabalenka as a person, having interviewed her multiple times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been interviewing Aryna [Sabalenka] for the past four or five years, and she always has that great personality,\u201d said Bartoli.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is always smiling. She always has a great sense of humour. So I really, really like her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s impossible to know what Gauff or Sabalenka really think about the situation, but both players will likely want to put the controversy behind them and turn their attention to Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>Having lost two Grand Slam finals in 2025, Sabalenka, in particular, will be determined to come away with the Venus Rosewater Dish next month.<\/p>\n<p>Marion Bartoli says Aryna Sabalenka needs to make \u2018small adjustments\u2019 to compete on grass<\/p>\n<p>Bartoli continued to reflect on the French Open final, which she admitted was played in changeable conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe [Sabalenka] is bringing so much to women\u2019s tennis. Yes, she didn\u2019t play her best tennis in the final [of Roland Garros],\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-2219055194-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Aryna Sabalenka looks on against Coco Gauff of United States during the Women's Singles Final match on Day Fourteen of the 2025 French Open at Roland Garros.\" class=\"wp-image-100004\" \/>Photo by Andy Cheung\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very windy, the tournament decided to play with the roof open, but the roof was closed at the beginning of the match, and then it opened, and it changed the whole conditions of the match.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old then assessed Sabalenka\u2019s chances on the grass, highlighting what she needs to do to compete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat being said, I think for the grass, when I look at her performance in Berlin when she had to save four match points in the tie breaker against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/elena-rybakina\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elena Rybakina<\/a> and then lost in the semi-final, I think still on grass she will have to do some small adjustments on her techniques especially on the forehand side when she has such a big backswing,\u201d said Bartoli.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it starts to skip through on that forehand and go fast and deep on the grass, specifically, she is struggling a little bit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s not forget one thing that is very important on the grass is how quickly you can move.
