The Wings stormed back from a 16-point deficit behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/b\/bueckpa01w.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=dallashoopsjournal.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-08-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Paige Bueckers<\/a>\u2019 game-high 29 points, but the rally fell just short. With 29 points against the Sparks, she became the fastest rookie in franchise history to eclipse 500 points, doing so in just 27 games. She also became Dallas\u2019 all-time rookie assists leader with 146.<\/p>\n<p>Her 18.8 points per game ranks just behind Arike Ogunbowale\u2019s rookie average of 19.1 in 2019. Bueckers now sets her sights on passing <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/s\/simsod01w.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=dallashoopsjournal.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-08-16_bbr\">Odyssey Sims<\/a> (569 points in 2014) and eventually Ogunbowale\u2019s rookie franchise scoring record of 630.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to reflect when you\u2019re in the middle of it because you\u2019re so focused on the day-to-day,\u201d Bueckers said. \u201cAs a team, it\u2019s never about how many points you score, it\u2019s about how you contribute to winning on any given night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maddy Siegrist Returns Strong<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since returning on Aug. 5 from a knee injury that sidelined her for 18 games, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/s\/siegrma01w.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=dallashoopsjournal.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-08-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maddy Siegrist<\/a> has quickly regained her form. She is averaging 14.8 points over her last five games while shooting above 60 percent from the field.<\/p>\n<p>Siegrist matched her career high with 22 points in Dallas\u2019 win over Indiana earlier this week and added 15 more against Los Angeles. Her expanded offensive role has provided Dallas with another reliable scorer alongside Bueckers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JJ Quinerly Joins Record Book<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/q\/quinejj01w.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=dallashoopsjournal.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-08-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JJ Quinerly<\/a> joined her backcourt teammate in the record books on Friday, dishing out a career-high nine assists. She became the latest Wings rookie to tally eight or more assists in a game \u2014 all six such performances this season have come from Dallas rookies.<\/p>\n<p>Quinerly is now one of just four third-round picks in league history to average at least six points and two assists while shooting over 40 percent as a rookie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust my teammates,\u201d Quinerly said. \u201cThey were moving well without the ball, and I definitely found Lou a couple times trailing at the three or popping, which she\u2019s good at. Then just trying to figure out where the rest of my teammates are, their favorite spots on the court, where they want to shoot from, and just learning them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s at Stake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dallas seeks to avoid a season sweep against Las Vegas and snap a three-game losing streak in the series.
