RICHMOND, Va. \u2014 Tyler Reddick was on his way to securing a playoff spot Saturday night at Richmond Raceway but after an accident and Austin Dillon\u2019s win, it remains possible that Reddick could be eliminated from title contention next weekend at Daytona.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty much worst-case scenario,\u201d Reddick said after his 34th-place finish. \u201cWe can thank Daniel Suarez for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dillon\u2019s victory made him the 14th driver to secure a playoff spot with a win this season.<\/p>\n

The Richard Childress Racing driver locked into the playoffs with his second consecutive victory on the 0.75-mile oval.<\/p>\n

The final two playoff spots will be set next weekend at Daytona. Reddick will go there 29 points ahead of Alex Bowman, who holds the final playoff spot.<\/p>\n

If there is a new winner and Bowman outscores Reddick by 29 points then Reddick \u2014 who won the regular season title last year \u2014 would not make the playoffs.<\/p>\n

That scenario didn\u2019t seem possible for part of Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Reddick led about a quarter of the first 160 laps but his race changed on Lap 182. Daniel Suarez ran into the back of Ty Gibbs and that contact sent Gibbs\u2019 car up the track into Reddick\u2019s car. Reddick spun from the impact and hit the SAFER barrier.<\/p>\n

The Richard Childress Racing driver has consecutive Cup victories on the 0.75-mile oval.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Suarez) moved (Gibbs),\u201d Reddick said. \u201c(Suarez) was frustrated. Whatever it was, (Gibbs) got in his way, was racing him and he moved him and it spun me out.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the damage, Reddick said: \u201cWent from a car that was one of the fastest on the track to one of the slowest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who will clinch last two playoff spots at Daytona?<\/p>\n

Austin Dillon became the 14th race winner to earn a spot in the 16-driver Cup playoffs field. The regular season concludes Saturday at Daytona International Speedway, where the last two playoff drivers will be confirmed.<\/p>\n

Suarez explained what happened in the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel bad for (Reddick), I think it was,\u201d Suarez said after his seventh-place finish. \u201cIt really wasn\u2019t intentional. The last thing I wanted (was) to crash him for no reason. (Gibbs) already had older tires and at that point it\u2019s a two- or three-second difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen (Gibbs) went to the bottom, he just slowed down way more than what I anticipated. I bumped him a little bit to get some room but it was maybe too hard of a bump for the tires that he had and he got a wiggle and then he ended up spinning out (Reddick), which wasn\u2019t intentional. I feel bad for that. Bad situation there.
