{"id":152478,"date":"2025-08-17T06:38:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T06:38:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/152478\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T06:38:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T06:38:11","slug":"arizona-woman-found-guilty-in-dui-crash-that-killed-child","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/152478\/","title":{"rendered":"Arizona woman found guilty in DUI crash that killed child"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 An Arizona woman was recently found guilty by a federal jury following a DUI crash that killed one of her kids, officials announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Marian Marsha Josytewa, 40, was convicted on Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of child abuse and driving under the influence, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-az\/pr\/jury-finds-polacca-woman-guilty-driving-under-influence-her-children-killing-one-them\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">United States Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Arizona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The guilty verdict was the result of a six-day trial.<\/p>\n<p>Why was the Arizona woman found guilty in the DUI crash?<\/p>\n<p>According to the United States Attorney\u2019s Office, on December 10, 2021, Josytewa went to pick up her two children from a school in Flagstaff after consuming several beers.<\/p>\n<p>On the way back to the Hopi Tribe homeland, Josytewa rolled her car on a highway on the Navajo Nation.<\/p>\n<p>During the crash, one of her sons was ejected from the car and died as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Her blood was drawn and tested, showing a blood alcohol level (BAC) of .113. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azdps.gov\/services\/enforcement-services\/impaired-driving\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">legal limit<\/a> in the state of Arizona is a BAC of .08.<\/p>\n<p>An assault resulting in serious bodily injury conviction has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and less than three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, involuntary manslaughter has a maximum penalty of eight years in prison, a fine of $250,000 as well as less than three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>The three remaining convictions could also add up to more than seven years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Josytewa is expected to be sentenced on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
