(WCAX) &#8211; New York State Police is investigating the death of an inmate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police say around 9p.m. Thursday they responded to the Upstate Correctional Facility on Bare Hill Rd in Malone for the suspicious death of an inmate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">35-year-old Antawon Johnson was found unconscious in his cell after being attacked by his cellmate, 28-year-old Arkies Sommerville. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Franklin County Coroner later pronounced Johnson dead. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">An autopsy has now found that Johnson died by asphyxiation due to strangulation &#8212; the manner of death has been ruled a homicide. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WCAX.
