Released during NIVA&#8217;s annual conference on June 23, The State of Live report blames inflation, anti-competitive practices, and predatory resale as major factors.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/niva-report-1-20250625121300.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Even as fan tourism and local spending surged \u2014 with indie venues accounting for 9.2% of total U.S. travel and tourism revenue \u2014 the financial strain remains severe. Over $10.62 billion was spent annually by fans on hotels, restaurants, shops, and transport related to these events.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/niva-report-2-20250625121353.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>NIVA executive director <strong>Stephen Parker<\/strong> shared:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Independent venues are more than stages for entertainment; they are economic engines and cultural lifelines. This report underscores the urgent need for policy reforms and public investment to sustain these indispensable community anchors.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Venues also reported that 31% of their expenses went straight to artist and booking fees. Meanwhile, the ecosystem supported 908,000 jobs and paid out $51.7 billion in wages and benefits, while contributing $19.31 billion in tax revenue \u2014 about the same as FEMA&#8217;s annual disaster relief budget.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/niva-report-3-20250625121536.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Co-owner of Cleveland, OH&#8217;s The Happy Dog and State of the Live Force chair\/president <strong>Sean Watterson <\/strong>added:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Thanks to NIVA, and the efforts and trust of those who responded with real data on their operations, we can tell our story.
