(Photo by Melissa Jacobs\/LEAD San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prebysfdn.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prebys Foundation<\/a> is launching\u00a0a $2\u00a0million initiative to support nonprofit and civic leaders working together to strengthen their organizations and communities.<\/p>\n<p>The program, called BRIDGE, for Building Resilient, Inclusive and Dynamic Grassroot Ecosystems, is a response to the current landscape, in which nonprofits are confronting a host of challenging factors. Those include shifting federal policies, delayed funding, budget cuts and rising costs. <\/p>\n<p>To help San Diego nonprofits adapt, BRIDGE\u00a0will invest in eight community organizations chosen for their strong leadership, diverse focus and the people they serve, including urban, rural and tribal communities. <\/p>\n<p>The goal is for them to help other nonprofits and civic groups build skills, strengthen their leadership and operations and stay connected through training, wellness practices, advocacy, and shared learning.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the hope is to grow the network over\u00a0time. The\u00a0first BRIDGE\u00a0Cohort includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/chicanofed.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicano Federation<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 cultivates opportunities and advocates for equity in San Diego County\u2009while\u2009serving\u00a0more than 50,000 people annually.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fieldstoneleadershipsd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fieldstone Leadership Network San Diego<\/a>\u2009\u2014\u2009builds and sustains nonprofit leaders\u2019 personal and professional capabilities through development programs.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latinas.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hispanas Organized for Political Equality<\/a> (HOPE)\u2009\u2014\u2009empowers Latinas to achieve political and economic parity through leadership training, advocacy and education.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sdchamber.org\/lead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LEAD\u00a0San Diego<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the region\u2019s sole nonprofit dedicated to developing civically engaged leaders through education, engagement and mobilization.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.risesandiego.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RISE\u00a0San Diego<\/a>\u2009\u2014\u2009advances urban leadership through dialogue-based civic engagement, nonprofit partnerships and direct training and support.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amplifiedimpacts.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amplified Impact Partners<\/a>\u00a0(formerly San Diego Social Venture Partners)\u2009\u2014\u2009offers pro bono consulting services to nonprofits in need of strategic and operational support.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/digital.sandiego.edu\/npi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Nonprofit Institute\u2009<\/a>\u2014\u2009housed at\u00a0USD\u2019s School of Leadership and Education Sciences, it offers research, evaluation, leadership development to the nonprofit sector.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/walkingshield.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walking Shield<\/a>\u2009\u2014\u2009Native-managed since\u00a01986, dedicated to improving American Indian families\u2019 quality of life through health, education, housing and economic development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Prebys Foundation has begun working with community partners to strengthen the region\u2019s nonprofit and civic infrastructure. What began in fall\u00a02024\u00a0as a\u00a0collaborative planning effort has become\u00a0BRIDGE and funding partners include Catalyst of San Diego\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Imperial Counties.\u2009<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNonprofits are the backbone of San Diego\u2019s civic and social infrastructure,\u201d said Grant Oliphant,\u00a0CEO\u00a0of the Prebys Foundation.\u00a0\u201cThrough\u00a0BRIDGE, we are standing with them in this moment of disruption to ensure they not only survive but emerge stronger, more connected, and more impactful than\u00a0ever.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The LEAD San Diego 2019 Visionary Award winners.
