JACKSONVILLE — Palestine blanked Jacksonville 4-0 in the controlled portion of Thursday evening\u2019s scrimmage between the two geographical rivals.<\/p>\n
In the 10 minute live period, the Wildcats and Indians battled to a 7-7 tie.<\/p>\n
The live segment was called with less than a minute left to play due to lightning being in the vicinity of the Tomato Bowl.<\/p>\n
In the controlled part of the dress rehearsal, the Wildcats scored three times through the air and once by land.<\/p>\n
Three of the Wildcats\u2019 touchdowns covered more than 20 yards each.<\/p>\n
The Wildcats scored on passes covering 0, 27 and 2 yards, respectively.<\/p>\n
A Palestine running back displayed good second and third efforts in jetting into the end zone from 46 yards out.<\/p>\n
Three Wildcat quarterbacks combined to go 8-19-1 through the air for 130 yards.<\/p>\n
The visitors average 16.3 yards per catch.<\/p>\n
Palestine runners netted 115 yards on the ground in 15 carries for a robust average of 7.8 yards per carry.<\/p>\n
Defensively, Palestine held Jacksonville to 23 yards rushing in a dozen trips.<\/p>\n
A trio of Tribe signal callers went 10-19-0 through the air for 83 yards.<\/p>\n
In the live period, a Palestine cornerback intercepted the Indian quarterback on Jacksonville\u2019s first play from scrimmage and ran the ball back 40 yards down the Wildcat sidelines for a touchdown.<\/p>\n
The uncontested point after touchdown was good, giving the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n
The Indians evened things up by scoring on a 76-yard catch and run that came with about 3:00 left in the live round.<\/p>\n
