CHICAGO (WLS) — A gunman shot and killed a woman while trying to rob her on Chicago’s Southwest Side on Saturday night, police said.<\/p>\n

Police said the attack happened in the Bridgeport neighborhood’s 800-block of West 27th Street around 8:40 p.m.<\/p>\n

A 31-year-old woman was outside when a male suspect in a dark-colored sedan shot her, police said. CPD said the suspect, of an unknown age, was with a group of people who were trying to take the victim’s belongings.<\/p>\n

The victim, shot in the chest, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Gabriela Ochoa.<\/p>\n

There is no one in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.<\/p>\n
