JSO said the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in serious condition. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JSO said the investigation remains active and ongoing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JSO issued a warning Tuesday for drivers because of a spike in deadly motorcycle crashes in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">So far this year, there have been 25, including one Tuesday night on State Road 9B at I-95.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cEven one life lost is too many,\u201d JSO wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JSO spokesperson Christian Hancock with JSO stressed the importance of community action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s incumbent upon us, when we see an issue in the community, to address that issue. So what we\u2019re looking at is to educate the public.\u201d Hancock said, \u201cThe most common thing is speed\u2026 Once you hit certain speeds, you\u2026don\u2019t have the ability to stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Hancock outlined how these tragedies unfold, especially when motorists fail to spot motorcycles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cA lot of times we will look through them to see the car that\u2019s 100 yards behind them&#8230;then we have a crash,\u201d Hancock said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JSO encouraged both riders and drivers to be careful on the roadways.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Sheriff\u2019s Office reminded riders to wear the right gear, slow down, watch the road surface and brake smoothly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Safety recommendations from the sheriff\u2019s office include:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\">\n<p><b>Riders:<\/b>\u00a0Wear proper gear, slow down, watch road surfaces, brake smoothly, and improve visibility with bright clothing and lighting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\">\n<p><b>Drivers:<\/b>\u00a0Look twice for motorcycles, give them space, stay focused, and use caution when turning\u2014especially left turns.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JSO also encouraged riders to take one of the free motorcycle safety classes offered by the department.
