Seth Meyers was deeply disturbed by a press conference Wednesday<\/a> where Mark Rutte, Secretary General of NATO, seemingly referred to President Donald Trump as \u201cDaddy.\u201d <\/p>\n

Meyers showed a clip of Rutte defending Trump\u2019s f-bomb response<\/a> to the ongoing Iran\/Israel conflict, saying about Trump, \u201cDaddy has to sometimes use strong language.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers then showed a clip<\/a> of Trump being asked about the comment later that day. <\/p>\n

Trump responded, \u201cI think [Rutte] likes me. If he doesn\u2019t, I\u2019ll let you know. I\u2019ll come back and I\u2019ll hit him hard, OK? He did it very [affectionately], \u2018Daddy, you\u2019re my daddy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

When the clip ended, the show cut back to Meyers with intense revulsion on his face. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is anyone calling him \u2018daddy\u2019?\u201d Meyers asked. <\/p>\n

Meyers added, \u201cWhy is he calling himself ‘daddy\u2019? Am I watching a NATO summit or a soft-core Cinemax movie from the \u201980s called Donnie\u2019s Romp Through Holland?”<\/p>\n

Meyers continued, \u201cCan you imagine how happy Trump was when an actual world leader called him \u2018daddy\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe probably shot…\u201d Meyers said, before showing an out-of-context clip<\/a> from earlier in the monologue where Trump yelled, \u201cThe biggest load that we\u2019ve seen!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, you grow up!\u201d Meyers jokingly yelled at the audience. \u201cYou were thinking it. We showed it, but you were thinking it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Meyers was grossed out by all the daddy talk around Trump, Rutte himself has clarified<\/a> that he didn\u2019t intend to call Trump \u201cdaddy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018daddy\u2019 thing, I didn\u2019t call him \u2018daddy,\u2019\u201d Rutte said. \u201cWhat I said is that sometimes, in Europe, I hear sometimes countries saying, \u2018Hey, Mark, will the U.S. stay with us?\u2019 And I said that sounds a little bit like a small child asking his daddy, \u2018Hey, are you still staying with the family?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo in that sense, I used \u2018daddy\u2019\u2014not that I was calling President Trump daddy,\u201d Rutte explained.<\/p>\n
