\n\tAlthough The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/a> is coming to an unceremonious end, Conan O\u2019Brien<\/a> is confident its host isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile speaking Saturday at his induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame, the 5x Emmy-winning comedian praised Colbert<\/a> as \u201ctoo talented and too essential\u201d and shared his thoughts on the future of late-night television.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYes, late-night television as we have known it since around 1950 is going to disappear. But those voices are not going anywhere,\u201d said O\u2019Brien. \u201cPeople like Stephen Colbert are too talented and too essential to go away. It\u2019s not gonna happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following Colbert\u2019s ongoing jokes at the president\u2019s expense, Trump has celebrated the talk show\u2019s demise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tGeorge Cheeks, CBS<\/a>\u2018s Chair of TV Media, has since claimed that the talk show\u2019s \u201ceconomics made it a challenge<\/a> for us to keep going.\u201d Jeff Shell, president of Paramount<\/a> under its new Skydance<\/a> acquisition, has shown his support<\/a> for the decision, explaining, \u201cLate-night has a huge problem right now. \u2026 You can\u2019t make it work economically anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
