{"id":154177,"date":"2025-08-17T22:32:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T22:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/154177\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T22:32:21","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T22:32:21","slug":"nycs-flaccid-free-condom-program-needs-to-grow-again-critics-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/154177\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC&#8217;s flaccid free-condom program needs to grow again, critics say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>City Health Department officials should get on the stick and start providing randy New Yorkers with free condoms again, critics say.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/17\/us-news\/nycs-free-condom-program-facing-shortage-and-it-could-be-weeks-before-theres-any-action-on-supply\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">department\u2019s rubber shortage <\/a>has existed for about a year \u2014 reportedly because of high demand \u2014 prompting its flaccid performance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DNS23_8yH6o\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">become the butt of jokes and condemnation<\/a>, including on a new Instagram account called Hack NY.<\/p>\n<p>While the site had been positively plugging free government programs as a public service, it recently posted a video skit featuring Big Apple <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2015\/08\/29\/i-found-out-my-boyfriend-was-a-cheat-and-a-killer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">comedian Ayanna Dookie <\/a>and Aaron Cohen, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/10\/16\/tiktoks-old-jewish-men-demand-cheap-lox-places-to-pee-in-nyc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an actor with OldJewishMen<\/a>, targeting the rubberless Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>The video shows Dookie waking up startled when she sees the older Cohen sleeping next to her, with her character ending up pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis could have been avoided,\u201d the clip\u2019s narrator says. \u201cNew York City is supposed to be giving out free condoms, but they\u2019re in short supply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComment to tell them that we need more [condoms] before you make your next mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New York City residents who currently go to the DOH\u2019s web site for free condoms are greeted with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveygizmo.com\/s3\/5650051\/Door-2-Door-Paused\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this message<\/a>: \u201cDue to an overwhelming initial response we have exhausted our inventory far sooner than anticipated. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope to be back up and running shortly \u2013 stay tuned and we will see you soon!\u201d the department promises.<\/p>\n<p>A new comedy sketch from the Instagram page \u201cHack NY\u201d pokes fun at the shortage of free condoms that are supposed to be provided by the city\u2019s Department of Health. Instagram\/Hack New York<\/p>\n<p>The DOH includes a \u201cfree condom\u201d map showing the groups and businesses it claims to have distributed free condoms to.<\/p>\n<p>But Hack NY said it made random calls to the groups and found that only 33% of the organizations listed on the site had free condoms.<\/p>\n<p>Hack NY also asked the Health Department when condoms would be back in full supply, and the agency didn\u2019t provide a timeline or answer about the accuracy of its free-condom supply map.<\/p>\n<p>The video features actors Ayanna Dookie and Aaron Cohen having an unexpected pregnancy because of the condom shortage.
