NSW police are searching for witnesses after a teenage boy died in a crash involving a tractor, a semitrailer and a horse truck towing a caravan.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to the Kamilaroi Highway, about 10 kilometres east of Wee Waa, just after 3pm Sunday.<\/p>\n
The 14-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the horse truck, was given first aid by a passer-by before paramedics arrived, but died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Police have called on the man who helped to come forward, saying he may be able to assist with the investigation into the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Kamilaroi Highway was closed in both directions for 17 hours after the crash but has since been reopened.<\/p>\n
The 38-year-old driver of the horse truck was taken to hospital in a stable condition for treatment and mandatory testing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One horse in the truck had to be euthanased, while three others needed veterinary care.<\/p>\n
The 66-year-old man who was driving the tractor and the 33-year-old male driver of the semitrailer were not injured, but taken to hospital for mandatory testing.<\/p>\n
The crash is the latest in what has already been a shocking year on NSW roads.<\/p>\n
