Logan Thompson<\/strong> will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Wednesday\u2019s Washington Nationals game<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Washington Capitals starting goaltender will represent the Humane Rescue Alliance as the team hosts it\u2019s sixth and penultimate \u201cPups in the Park\u201d night.<\/p>\n

\u201cLogan and his fianc\u00e9e, Linnea, are huge animal lovers who\u2019ve teamed up with HRA to help more pets in DC find safe, loving homes,\u201d the group wrote on social media Friday.<\/a> \u201cBig thanks to the @capitals\u00a0for always backing dog rescue and to the\u00a0@nationals for making Pups in the Park one of our favorite traditions!\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans who attend \u201cPups in the Park\u201d are permitted to bring their furry companions into Nationals Park, and later, down to the field for the \u201cPups in the Park Parade\u201d upon conclusion of the Nats\u2019 game against the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

The Humane Rescue Alliance is an organization that \u201cemphasizes specialized care for both animals and their families,\u201d according to its website<\/a>. The group has two campuses in DC and New Jersey where staff provide \u201cdirect care to an animal in crisis.\u201d Thompson has spent time aiding the organization in its mission since joining the Caps last summer.<\/p>\n

Thompson is the first Capitals player to throw out the first pitch at a Nationals game this season. Recently retired Caps forward TJ Oshie made an appearance at a Minnesota Twins game on July 29<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It also appears that Thompson is the first Caps player since Alex Ovechkin in 2019<\/a> to be given ceremonial first pitch honors at Nats Park. The Capitals captain hyped up the crowd and delivered a toss to the plate ahead of Game 4 of the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
