Evan\u2019s Meat Marke<\/a>t, a Louisiana-inspired butcher shop in Highland Park, will close on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 after selling food for one more day, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

The shop had become a neighborhood meet-up spot for cuts of steak, po\u2019boy sandwiches and grab-and-go food.<\/p>\n

Owner Evan Meagher now owns a second restaurant, The PoBoy Shop<\/a>, in Dallas\u2019 Preston Center. It will remain open and will continue to sell the Louisiana sandwiches that got their start at Evan\u2019s. <\/p>\n

But Meagher said in a company statement that after more than two years in business, the butcher shop wasn\u2019t economically viable.<\/p>\n

He cited \u201ca perfect storm of rising product costs, staffing shortages and shrinking margins \u2014 challenges that made it increasingly difficult to sustain the retail butcher model long term.” <\/p>\n

He credits the meat market as the catalyst for the sandwich shop.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t know it at the time, but that butcher counter was laying the foundation for something with the potential to grow even bigger,\u201d Meagher said in a statement. \u201cI wish there were a world where both could operate and thrive side by side, but the reality is I had to make a choice \u2014 one that gives our team the best opportunity to grow, sustain and expand our impact.”<\/p>\n

Evan\u2019s Meat Market will sell off its final products during business hours on Aug. 18, 2025. Anything left will be posted to social media, and customers can place orders after that.<\/p>\n

Meagher said the choice to close the shop in his name was \u201cincredibly hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evan\u2019s Meat Market is at 4266 Oak Lawn Ave., Dallas.
