Chicago Bears cornerback Terell Smith<\/a><\/strong> was carted off the field after suffering an injury in the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. The play happened in the second quarter when he was defending a pass thrown by Bills quarterback Mike White<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After Terell Smith was carted off the field, the Bears announced that he suffered a knee injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Smith is entering his third season with the Bears, after the team selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

In Smith\u2019s rookie season, he tallied 49 tackles and six passes in 12 games with four starts. Last year, the former Minnesota Golden Gophers <\/a>star played in 14 games with two starts and notched 19 tackles, four passes defended and one interception. <\/p>\n

Terell Smith on what he brings to the Chicago Bears <\/p>\n

When Smith was selected by the Bears in 2023, he talked about what he would bring to the franchise. \u201cI would say as a player I bring physicality,\u201d Smith said at the time, per ChicagoBears.com.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m a physical corner. I\u2019m going to set the tone. I\u2019m going to do my job and I\u2019m going to be disciplined. Off the field, I\u2019m just a mature young man. I\u2019m very disciplined on and off the field. You\u2019re just getting a high character guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talk about resilience is a big thing,\u201d said Bears co-director of player personnel Trey Koziol. \u201cThat is one of the key cogs we talk about when we\u2019re looking for Bears players, so for somebody to stick it out and kind of work through those things and kind of pull himself up by his bootstraps and continue to get better, that shows a lot about him as a player and a person. I think that is a special thing with him.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before the injury, Terell Smith recorded two tackles in the Bears\u2019 38-0 victory over the Bills on Sunday.
