(WSAZ) &#8212; West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey has announced a lawsuit against what he calls an \u201carchitect\u201d of the opioid crisis in West Virginia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The lawsuit, filed on Friday, is against Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefit manager organization in the United States.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">McCuskey says the company played a pivotal role in the crisis, enabled the widespread supply of opioids, and worked to keep its role obscure from the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During a press conference Monday, McCuskey claimed Express Scripts fueled an opioid crisis from behind the scenes while projecting an image of public concerns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Express Scripts is accused of conspiring with opioid manufacturers as well as securing preferred formulary placement for opioids, which thereby incentivized the prescription of opioids.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Keep checking the WSAZ App for the latest information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 WSAZ.
