WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Los Angeles-based artist and muralist WRDSMTH<\/a>, has donated his time and talent by designing this year’s Puppy Palooza T-shirt.<\/p>\n

WRDSMTH was very excited to learn he had an opportunity to collaborate with ABC7 for Puppy Palooza. His love for dogs sparked his interest immediately.<\/p>\n

The t-shirt design is based on his very own dog, Vincent, named after famous artist Vincent van Gogh.<\/p>\n

“My dog right now, his name is Vincent, he is just the best, I love him to death,” said WRDSMTH. “He was born with only one ear, and it’s all skin and fur. I don’t even know if an ear canal developed on that side.”<\/p>\n

You may have seen WRDSMTH’s murals gracing Los Angeles buildings. From the bustling streets of Downtown Los Angeles to Melrose Avenue, his art is known for one thing: a typewriter. With being not only an artist but also a published artist and screenwriter, this is on brand for him.<\/p>\n

“I came up with the motif of the typewriter and a page coming out of it that will feature words that I write,” he explained. “That has changed over time, but I’m known for that. It’s like when people see the typewriter, they want to get up closer to my pieces and see what they say.”<\/p>\n

The t-shirt design was the former advertising copywriter’s way of changing his usual style.<\/p>\n

“It was changing it up a little bit. Yes, the typewriter is there, but Vincent is coming out of it.”<\/p>\n

WRDSMTH is very proud of being a part of the greater cause and knowing that proceeds go towards spcaLA. He hopes that everyone “embraces” the shirt.<\/p>\n

“Proceeds go to the charity, and I love that,” WRDSMTH said. “I hope this t-shirt sells just like crazy, like gang busters. Because first of all, it’s my work, it’s my dog, and it’s a phrase that makes me happy. I hope that everyone embraces it, wears it, and purchases it because it’s such a great cause.”<\/p>\n
