{"id":157127,"date":"2025-08-19T01:10:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157127\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T01:10:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:10:14","slug":"saisd-faces-heat-after-first-hvac-concerns-of-the-2025-26-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157127\/","title":{"rendered":"SAISD faces heat after first HVAC concerns of the 2025-26 school year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The San Antonio Independent School District is drawing complaints after KSAT received reports of cooling issues at multiple campuses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A spokesperson for SAISD told KSAT on Monday afternoon that the district has received seven calls into their support hub to report high-priority issues related to air conditioning since the first day of school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">KSAT was informed by multiple sources that Edison High School, Jefferson High School, Graebner Elementary and Woodlawn Academy have experienced variations of HVAC issues since Aug. 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThree of the four campuses are under some phase of construction, which contributes to the complexity of managing the HVAC systems,\u201d a spokesperson told KSAT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cOther schools who contacted the support hub included Maverick Elementary School, Burbank High School, and Young Women\u2019s Leadership Academy,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAISD has had several HVAC system issues over the last two school years, including a week-long shutdown in January 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In January 2022, SAISD was the only district in the city to shut down due to infrastructure issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cOur mitigation strategies include the use of industrial portable units, as well as relocating students to cooler areas as needed,\u201d the spokesperson told KSAT. \u201cWe have had below average HVAC issues for the start of the school year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe encourage our schools to share information about any air conditioning issues, especially those outside of the state\u2019s recommended setpoints,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>Read also: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2025 by KSAT &#8211;
