{"id":157148,"date":"2025-08-19T01:21:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157148\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T01:21:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:21:11","slug":"west-hollywood-to-reduce-speeds-for-28-streets-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157148\/","title":{"rendered":"West Hollywood to reduce speeds for 28 streets \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drivers in West Hollywood will soon notice reduced speed limits as the city aims to increase safety on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Major streets, commercial roads and narrow residential streets in West Hollywood will have their speed limits decreased by 5 mph, the city announced on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city is carrying out these changes as part of its WeHo Target Vision Zero Action Plan commitment to work towards eliminating fatal and severe crashes on city roadways,\u201d West Hollywood officials said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The changes will be enforced once new signage is posted. Assembly Bill 43 enabled the change since it allows cities to decide their own speed limits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the provisions of AB 43, the City of West Hollywood recently retained a traffic engineering consulting firm to reanalyze the data from the City\u2019s 2023 E&amp;TS and make recommendations to designate certain roadways as Safety Corridors, High Pedestrian and Bicycle Activity Corridors, or Business Activity Districts to enable modest further reductions in accordance with the updates to state law,\u201d the city\u2019s statement said.<\/p>\n<p>City councilmembers approved recommended reductions in a meeting in January and again in July.
