{"id":157207,"date":"2025-08-19T01:51:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157207\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T01:51:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T01:51:11","slug":"nia-dacosta-added-more-infected-to-alex-garlands-28-years-later-the-bone-temple-script","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/157207\/","title":{"rendered":"Nia DaCosta Added More Infected to Alex Garland&#8217;s &#8217;28 Years Later: The Bone Temple&#8217; Script"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nia DaCosta<\/strong>\u00a0(Candyman) takes over as director for <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/movie\/3885273\/28-years-later-the-bone-temple-will-release-in-28-weeks-heres-everything-we-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>28 Years Later:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The Bone Temple<\/strong><\/a>, a sequel to Danny Boyle\u2019s 28 Years Later that will release in theaters on<strong> January 16, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The titular bone temple is a primary location in Danny Boyle\u2019s trilogy-starter, and the title of DaCosta\u2019s sequel suggests we\u2019ll returning to that location. The final minutes of\u00a028 Years Later\u00a0also suggest that\u00a0The Bone Temple will focus on <strong>Jack O\u2019Connell\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cSir Jimmy Crystal\u201d and his merry band of evil-doers, with young hero Spike (<strong>Alfie Williams<\/strong>) also returning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cillian Murphy\u2019s<\/strong> character from 28 Days Later is also expected to make an appearance in The Bone Temple, <a href=\"https:\/\/bloody-disgusting.com\/movie\/3885273\/28-years-later-the-bone-temple-will-release-in-28-weeks-heres-everything-we-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which we know very little about at this time<\/a>. One other thing we do know is that <strong>Alex Garland<\/strong> wrote the script, and it was that script that brought DaCosta on board.<\/p>\n<p>Nia DaCosta said at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this week (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/nia-dacosta-28-years-later-the-bone-temple-script-1236346898\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via THR<\/a>), \u201cMaking the 28 Years Later sequel was one of the best filmmaking experiences I\u2019ve had. <strong>One of the issues I had with\u00a0Candyman\u00a0and\u00a0Marvels\u00a0was the lack of a really solid script, which is always gonna just wreak havoc on the whole process<\/strong>. But Alex Garland hands you a script, and you\u2019re like, \u2018This is amazing.\u2019 You don\u2019t really have to change it, although I did.<strong> I basically asked for more infected.<\/strong> [Laughs.] <strong>That was, like, my big contribution<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m \">\u201cI inherited an amazing cast, then I was given the leeway to cast the rest of the\u00a0film,\u201d DaCosta notes. \u201cThere were a couple locations I inherited. I was given leeway to develop all the other locations.
