Apple is out with iOS 26 beta 7<\/a> and watchOS 26 beta 7<\/a> today for developers. Most notably, the updates include the redesigned Blood Oxygen feature that Apple announced<\/a> last week for Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2 users in the United States. <\/p>\n

Apple launched the redesigned Blood Oxygen feature as part of iOS 18.6.1<\/a> and watchOS 11.6.1 last week<\/a>, 18 months after it began selling<\/a>\u00a0the Apple Watch without the Blood Oxygen feature in America\u00a0due to a patent dispute<\/a>\u00a0with health technology company Masimo. <\/p>\n

Now, that same redesigned Blood Oxygen feature is available for eager Apple Watch and iPhone users running the iOS 26 and watchOS 26 betas. <\/p>\n

In case you missed it last week, here\u2019s how the new Blood Oxygen feature works: <\/p>\n

You can start a session in the Blood Oxygen app on Apple Watch, and the sensors on your Apple Watch will then collect the necessary data. Your iPhone then uses that data to calculate your blood oxygen measurements. The results are viewable in the Respiratory section of the Health app on your iPhone. You won\u2019t be able to view the results on the Apple Watch itself.<\/p>\n

The redesigned version of the feature will also support background blood oxygen measurements. This means your Apple Watch can collect data in the background and pass it off to the iPhone for calculation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Apple says there is \u201cno impact to Apple Watch units previously purchased that include the original Blood Oxygen feature, nor to Apple Watch units purchased outside of the U.S.\u201d <\/p>\n

The seventh betas of iOS 26 and watchOS 26 are currently available to developers. We expect a new public beta to be released as soon as later this week. <\/p>\n
