Singer Josey Scott would like to come back to Saliva<\/a>, but just not the current incarnation of the rock band. The singer\/songwriter, 53, was the band\u2019s lead singer during the band\u2019s inception in 1996, all the way until 2011. After recording seven albums during a 15-year time span, Scott decided to leave the band to \u201cbe a father and get sober and clean up [his] life and find [himself] mentally and spiritually and philosophically,\u201d as he told Tulsa Stream Music<\/a>. From there, Bobby Amaru has taken over lead vocals for the band and continues to front them to this day. <\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Youngstown Studio<\/a>, Scott made it clear that he had no intention of rejoining the band he co-founded. He specifically points to tensions with Amaru being the reason. <\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Bobby have just butted heads,\u201d said Scott as transcribed by The PRP.<\/a> \u201cAnd he\u2019s talked crap about me in the press and just done all these sort of\u2026 I don\u2019t wanna talk ill of\u2026 My mother used to say, \u2018If you don\u2019t have anything nice to say about somebody, don\u2019t say anything at all.\u2019 But it\u2019s just \u2014 I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t want to give the fans the Temu version of Saliva with some kind of a bastardized version that Bobby puts together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott is referring to an interview Amaru did with Youngstown Studi<\/a>o in 2024, where the singer eluded to coming into Saliva \u201cwhen the other person quits and basically abandons and leaves everyone high and dry and they just disappear for a decade and stuff.\u201d This is also <\/p>\n

Scott is hoping for a \u201cHail Mary\u201d in order to get the band name back, but he\u2019s made his thoughts about Amaru clear in the meantime. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not Saliva,\u201d said Scott. \u201cHe has never been Saliva. He definitely went out there and did his thing and filled in the space.\u201d<\/p>\n
