{"id":159144,"date":"2025-08-19T19:22:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-19T19:22:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/159144\/"},"modified":"2025-08-19T19:22:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-19T19:22:12","slug":"is-chicago-area-finally-done-with-rain-after-days-of-flooding-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/159144\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Chicago area finally done with rain after days of flooding? \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago area has been inundated with heavy rain on multiple occasions in recent days, but is relief finally on the way?<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Weather Service, some parts of the Chicago area received up to seven inches of rain, with most locations seeing heavy rain thanks to several rounds of showers and thunderstorms that hammered the region over the weekend and again on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>A weather observer in Paw Paw recorded 7.2 inches of rain during Monday night\u2019s weather event, with a wide swath of the area receiving between four and eight inches of precipitation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Here is an updated look at rainfall amounts from the round of heavy rainfall Monday afternoon and evening. Thank you to our volunteer observers, broadcast media, and followers for your reports! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ILwx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#ILwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/INwx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#INwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AhcThbCrLX\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/AhcThbCrLX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSChicago\/status\/1957868808619602079?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">August 19, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As a result of that rain, flood advisories remain in effect in DeKalb, LaSalle, DuPage, Cook and Will counties in Illinois, along with Lake and Porter counties in Indiana, until 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Creeks and streams are still being impacted by water runoff, and some street flooding is still occurring thanks to standing water, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p>For residents exhausted from the constant inundation in recent days, good news is on the horizon, as the area can expect to be mostly dry through the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the NWS says the Chicago area is expected to have below-average precipitation through the end of August, and is expected to have below-average temperatures as well, suggesting a more calm end to the month.<\/p>\n<p>The current forecast jibes with that forecast. The area will see partly-to-mostly cloudy conditions for the rest of Tuesday and into the day on Wednesday, and while there is a chance of a few widely scattered showers Wednesday, most of the area will remain rain-free.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward, high temperatures may be slightly below their seasonal averages, with readings in the upper-70s and low-80s for the rest of this week.
