Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo is dealing with a PCL injury.<\/p>\n
The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> are dealing with mounting injuries just weeks before the NFL season begins. Dallas now has another key player sidelined for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n Star corner Trevon Diggs\u2019 status for Week 1 remains uncertain. Pass rusher Micah Parsons is in a standoff with the Cowboys front office and has requested a trade, putting his future with the franchise in doubt.<\/p>\n The Cowboys are also dealing with a series of injuries on the offensive line. Now, the Cowboys will be without one of their wide receivers who is competing for a starting job. Jonathan Mingo<\/a> is expected to miss four to six weeks with a PCL injury.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter injuring his knee on a 49-yard reception against the Ravens on Saturday, further testing revealed Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo suffered a sprained PCL and could miss four-to-six weeks,\u201d DallasCowboys.com\u2019s Tommy Yarrish<\/a> wrote in an August 18, 2025, story titled, \u201cJonathan Mingo to miss 4-6 weeks with PCL sprain, likely to start on IR.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMingo, who the Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for at last year\u2019s trade deadline, now could start the season on injured reserve and miss the team\u2019s first four games.\u201d<\/p>\n Jonathan Mingo Was Selected by the Panthers in the Second Round of the 2023 NFL Draft<\/p>\n Back in November, the Cowboys acquired Mingo in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. Mingo is a former highly touted prospect coming out of Ole Miss.<\/p>\n The Panthers selected Mingo with the No. 39 overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. Despite playing in eight games for Dallas following the trade, Mingo failed to carve out a significant role in the offense. Mingo posted five receptions for 46 yards with the Cowboys in 2024.<\/p>\n The playmaker has yet to live up to the lofty expectations that accompany being a second-round selection.<\/p>\n Jonathan Mingo\u2019s Injury Could Open Up an Opportunity for Cowboys Rookie WR Traeshon Holden<\/p>\n Mingo is competing with Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin among others to be the Cowboys third wideout this season alongside CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. One player who could get an opportunity in Mingo\u2019s absence is undrafted rookie Traeshon Holden. The wideout has already captured the attention of Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer.<\/p>\n \u201cTraeshon\u2019s done that every day in practice, literally every day, there\u2019s been one or two big plays,\u201d Schottenheimer remarked to reporters<\/a> on August 9. \u201cAnd when you do that, you get noticed. And when you do that, you get more opportunities and I\u2019m just proud of him.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd, again, he\u2019s a guy that\u2019s going to \u2013 you\u2019ll see him moving up the depth chart.\u201d<\/p>\n Cowboys WR Jonathan Mingo Expected to Begin the NFL Season on Injured Reserve: Insider<\/p>\n ESPN\u2019s Todd Archer <\/a>reported that Mingo is \u201clikely\u201d to begin the NFL season on injured reserve. This would mean Mingo would be sidelined for at least four games.
