Hampton\u2019s home opener will be Nov. 6 against Mid-Atlantic Christian.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable dates for HU include Nov. 11 at Virginia, Nov. 18 at Boston College, Nov. 21 at Norfolk State, Feb. 7 against William &amp; Mary and March 3 at William &amp; Mary.<\/p>\n<p>Hampton will also take on North Carolina A&amp;T on either Feb. 13 or 14 in Los Angeles in the NBA HBCU Classic, which will be part of NBA All-Star weekend.<\/p>\n<p>William &amp; Mary will begin CAA play Dec. 29 against defending regular-season champion Towson at home. The Tribe, which hasn\u2019t announced its non-conference schedule yet, will play these CAA teams twice: Hampton, UNC Wilmington, Northeastern, North Carolina A&amp;T, Elon and Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>The CAA Tournament will be held March 6-10 in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>COLLEGE FOOTBALL<\/p>\n<p>Morris, Drones make Unitas list<\/p>\n<p>University of Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris and Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones have each been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list.<\/p>\n<p>James Madison\u2019s Alonza Barnett III and Navy\u2019s Blake Horvath also made the list.<\/p>\n<p>The ACC placed 13 quarterbacks on the list, which led all conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Morris Morris completed 62.9% of his passes for 3,774 yards and 31 touchdowns at North Texas last season. Drones passed for 1,562 yards and 10 touchdowns and ran for 336 yards and six scores in nine games last year while dealing with injuries.<\/p>\n<p>UVA\u2019s Robinson to miss games<\/p>\n<p>University of Virginia head coach Tony Elliott said third-year linebacker Kam Robinson will miss a couple of games with a collarbone injury.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson suffered a fracture in his collarbone on the first day of full-padded practice, Elliott said.<\/p>\n<p>Robinson was the Cavaliers\u2019 second-leading tackler last season and third-leading tackler in 2023. He\u2019s collected 135 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, three interceptions and five pass breakups in those two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>UVA opens its season Aug. 30 against Coastal Carolina at home.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Virginia Tech wide receiver\/punt returner Tucker Holloway and defensive tackle Kemari Copeland and UVA defensive back Antonio Clary have been named to the watch list for the Comeback Player of the Year Award.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>MORE COLLEGES<\/p>\n<p>Five from NSU gain HBCU awards<\/p>\n<p>Three Norfolk State athletes, a Spartans coach and a former coach have received HBCU Makeda Excellence Awards for the 2024-25 season from the Rice FAME Group.<\/p>\n<p>Running back Kevon King, a former Oscar Smith High star, was Football Athlete of the Year, distance runner Brian Rotich was Men\u2019s Cross-Country Athlete of the Year and guard Diamond Johnson was Women\u2019s Basketball Athlete of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>NSU\u2019s Kenneth Giles was Men\u2019s Cross-Country Coach of the Year and Larry Vickers was Women\u2019s Basketball Coach of the Year. Vickers left to become Auburn\u2019s head coach.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Christopher Newport has been picked No. 1 in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference preseason volleyball rankings.<\/li>\n<li>The University of Virginia has been picked third in the ACC field hockey preseason coaches poll. North Carolina is No. 1, followed by Duke. Cavaliers midfielders Mia Abello and Suze Leemans each made the preseason All-ACC team.<\/li>\n<li>UVA women\u2019s soccer player Pearl Cecil, a freshman defender, has been selected for the U.S. U-17 Women\u2019s National Team roster for a pair of friendly matches in Spain. The matches will be held Aug. 28 and 31 in Alicante, Spain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Briefly<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Norfolk Admirals announced they have signed defenseman Connor Fedorek.
