{"id":159845,"date":"2025-08-20T01:27:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T01:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/159845\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T01:27:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T01:27:15","slug":"lets-ride-fort-worth-high-school-students-to-receive-free-transit-rides-from-trinity-metro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/159845\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Let\u2019s ride!\u2019: Fort Worth high school students to receive free transit rides from Trinity Metro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Worth high school students are getting a back-to-school bonus: free rides on Trinity Metro\u2019s transit system.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot program, developed through a partnership with Fort Worth ISD and the transit agency, will launch in September and continue through the 2025-26 school year, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Trinity Metro\u2019s board of directors unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding for the program at their Aug. 18 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Anette Landeros, Trinity Metro chief strategic officer, said the partnership will enable students at Fort Worth high schools to participate in after-school educational and extracurricular programs and activities regardless of their household income.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The program allows students to ride free on Trinity Metro\u2019s fixed-route <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/routes-schedules\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bus service<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/texrail-schedule\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TEXRail<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/trinityrailwayexpress.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trinity Railway Express<\/a> trains as well as utilize <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/rider-services\/paratransit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">paratransit<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/rider-services\/ondemand\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">On-Demand<\/a> services cost-free within Tarrant County. (Mary Abby Goss | Fort Worth Report)<\/p>\n<p>Trinity Metro \u2014 with its slogan \u201cLet\u2019s Ride!\u201d \u2014 works with community groups and businesses to encourage more transit uses through events such as the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/ridetrinitymetro.org\/storytime-train\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Storytime Train<\/a> rides that brought an additional 3,000 riders to the TEXRail train in July and August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to cultivate the next generation of riders,\u201d Landeros said.<\/p>\n<p>Landeros said the high school program aligns with the district\u2019s mission to encourage student success and the transit agency\u2019s role in serving the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy addressing transportation challenges, this program has the potential to enhance student independence, expand their horizons, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community,\u201d a Trinity Metro staff report said. \u201cA successful pilot could lead to a long-term partnership that benefits thousands of students in years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karen Molinar, Fort Worth ISD superintendent, told the Trinity Metro board that the program will be life-changing for many students.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are opening such a great opportunity for our students,\u201d Molinar said. \u201cThank you for this partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The transit program will aid Fort Worth ISD students as the district faces a possible state takeover because of persistently low student academic performance, largely determined by STAAR results.<\/p>\n<p>Molinar said the program will benefit high schoolers by increasing opportunities for afterschool and sports activities, tutoring, jobs, internships, community resources and social events.<\/p>\n<p>A start date for the program hasn\u2019t been determined. Landeros said Fort Worth ISD is waiting until all high school students have their photo identification badges in hand before the district begins publicizing the free ride program.<\/p>\n<p>Eric E.
