Despite a hot start, Washington couldn\u2019t keep its momentum going, losing to the Connecticut Sun, 80-69.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The Mystics opened the contest on a 15-5 run, scoring from all areas en route to a scorching start. But then Connecticut settled in, outscoring the Mystics 42-20 to enter the locker room ahead, 47-35.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Jade Melbourne highlighted Washington\u2019s offense early, scoring eight points on 4-for-4 shooting in the first half. Former Mystics forward Aaliyah Edwards matched Melbourne\u2019s production and efficiency for the Sun, finishing the half with eight points of her own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">The sides remained close in the third quarter, as Washington entered the final frame trailing by 11 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Connecticut maintained its 11-point edge, leaving D.C. victorious with an 80-69 win. Washington fell to 16-19 and saw its winning streak end at two games.
