The complete principal cast from the pre-Broadway engagement of The Queen of Versailles<\/a> will reprise their roles on Broadway, as Kristin Chenoweth<\/a> announced August 19 at a press event outside the St. James Theatre.<\/p>\n

The new musical, with music by Stephen Schwartz<\/a> and a book by Lindsey Ferrentino<\/a>, will begin previews October 8 ahead of an official opening night November 9.<\/p>\n

Chenoweth, who also produces, stars as socialite Jacqueline \u201cJackie\u201d Siegel alongside Academy Award winner F. <\/a>Murray Abraham<\/a> as David Siegel<\/a>. Adapted from the 2012 documentary of the same name, the show follows the couple\u2019s effort to build the largest private home in the United States, only for the 2008 recession to upend their plans and extravagant lifestyle. The work premiered at Boston\u2019s Emerson Colonial Theatre last year, directed by two-time Tony winner Michael Arden<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rejoining Chenoweth are Melody Butiu<\/a> (Here Lies Love) as Sofia, Stephen DeRosa<\/a> (BOOP! The Musical) as John, Greg Hildreth<\/a> (Company) as Gary, Tatum <\/a>Grace Hopkins<\/a> (Meek) as Jonquil, Isabel Keating<\/a> (The Boy From Oz) as Debbie, and Nina White<\/a> (Kimberly Akimbo) as Victoria.<\/p>\n

The company also features Yeman Brown<\/a>, David Aron Damane<\/a>, Drew Elhamalawy<\/a>, Christopher Gurr<\/a>, KJ Hippensteel<\/a>, Cassondra James<\/a>, Andrew Kober<\/a>, Jesse Kovarsky<\/a>, Pablo David Laucerica<\/a>, Travis Murad Leland, Ryah Nixon<\/a>, Shea Renne<\/a>, Michael McCorry Rose<\/a>, Grace Slear<\/a>, Anne Fraser Thomas<\/a>, and Jake Bentley Young. Casting is by Stephen Kopel<\/a> and Carrie Gardner<\/a> of C12 Casting.<\/p>\n

The creative team includes choreography by Lauren Yalango<\/a>-Grant and Christopher Cree<\/a> Grant (Parade), music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell<\/a> (Some Like It Hot), scenic and video design by Dane Laffrey<\/a> (Parade), costume design by Christian Cowan<\/a>, lighting design by Natasha Katz<\/a> (Sweeney Todd), sound design by Peter Hylenski<\/a> (Beetlejuice), hair and wig design by Cookie Jordan<\/a>, and orchestrations by John Clancy<\/a>. Clarissa Marie Ligon<\/a> serves as production stage manager.<\/p>\n

The musical features a book by Lindsey Ferrentino<\/a> (Ugly Lies the Bone, Amy and the Orphans), adapting Lauren Greenfield\u2019s film, and a score by Stephen Schwartz<\/a> (Wicked, Pippin). The project reunites Schwartz with his original Wicked star Chenoweth.<\/p>\n

Chenoweth has been attached to the production since at least February 2023, when she led an industry reading of the work. The Queen of Versailles<\/a> is produced by Bill Damaschke<\/a>, Seaview, and Chenoweth.<\/p>\n
