{"id":160329,"date":"2025-08-20T05:45:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T05:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/160329\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T05:45:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T05:45:12","slug":"alcaraz-raducanu-fall-to-draper-pegula-in-us-open-doubles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/160329\/","title":{"rendered":"Alcaraz, Raducanu fall to Draper, Pegula in US Open doubles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aug 19, 2025, 05:07 PM ET<img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/>Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz have been knocked out of the US Open doubles.\u00a0Elsa\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula cruised to a straight-sets win against Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu in the first round of the revamped US Open mixed doubles.<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s British No. 1 Draper and American partner Pegula overcame men&#8217;s world No. 2 Alcaraz and top-ranked British woman Raducanu 4-2, 4-2 in 51 minutes to reach the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu lost her serve in the opening game, and although there were no further break points in the first set, that was enough for Draper and Pegula to clinch it.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz and Raducanu opened up a 1-0 lead in the second set but were broken again to fall 2-1 behind, and Draper demonstrated his accuracy and power to hold his own serve to edge 3-1 ahead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/tennis\/story\/_\/id\/46003421\/us-open-2025-mixed-doubles-faq-williams-alcaraz-sinner-pegula-shelton-tiafoe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">US Open mixed doubles: Everything to know<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raducanu saved three break points before holding to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Draper sealed victory on the third match point in the next game with a stunning forehand down the line.<\/p>\n<p>Draper and Pegula returned to book their place in the semifinals as they thrashed <a data-player-guid=\"469710ae-79d9-770e-e3b7-d71e5148642c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=2383\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daniil Medvedev<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"734dd570-209d-349d-8de8-7ce7c9206163\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=9820\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mirra Andreeva<\/a> &#8212;
