(WVIR) -UVA\u2019s Weldon Cooper Center shared its quarterly economic forecast, predicting rough waters ahead for Virginia\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The center sited back-and-forth tariffs rollouts, mass federal layoffs and a bubble in the construction industry due to data centers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Its economists believe 2026 could be a year of 0% job growth, with this year already seeing the slowest growth since 2021<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis has been a very challenging year with the ongoing policy uncertainty around both tariffs around federal downsizing and around a number of factors that make forecasting quite challenging,\u201d Weldon Cooper Center Executive Director Eric Scorsone said, \u201cand honestly, I expect more of that throughout the rest of this year.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">Do you have a story idea?
