Masked ICE<\/a> agents in Lower Manhattan have taken to wearing Superman patches on their uniforms after actor Dean Cain<\/a>, who portrayed the comic book character on television more than 30 years ago, announced his intent to join the agency responsible for arresting thousands of immigrant men, women and children around the country in recent months<\/a>, amNewYork has learned.<\/p>\n The armed and masked agents could be seen proudly displaying the patch on their garb as they stalked the halls inside 290 Broadway on Monday and 26 Federal Plaza on Tuesday. Some of them chuckled from behind their sunglasses and baseball caps when amNewYork questioned them on the Superman logo. However, one man claimed that they bore the symbol in support of the 59-year-old actor.<\/p>\n \u201cWe stand with Dean Cain,\u201d one agent said.\n<\/p>\n When amNewYork questioned another agent he responded by stating: \u201cIt\u2019s just a patch.\u201d This comes as DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said earlier this month that she eliminated age restrictions to join the agency following backlash of sweeping ICE arrests across the country and inside NYC immigration court.\u00a0<\/p>\n After making headlines for calling the latest iteration of the beloved character \u201cWoke,\u201d Cain follows up on the media buzz by telling Fox News that he will be joining ICE.\n<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve spoken with some officials over at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP,\u201d Cain said on Fox.\n<\/p>\n Cain flew to fame in the 1990s for portraying the Man of Steel in the television adaptation of \u201cLois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.\u201d Since then, however, the actor has failed to capitalize on any major roles.<\/p>\n Comedian John Oliver joked that there will be no need for the actor to don a mask.\n<\/p>\n \u201cOn the plus side, no need for that guy to wear a mask because the chances of anyone recognizing him are f**king zero,\u201d Oliver said during a recent episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, as of Aug. 19, ICE detainments appeared to have slowed after judges granted several injunctions that included prohibiting ICE from keeping detainees in packed, unsanitary conditions.
