He had also strung together 23 straight top-20 finishes to open the year, a run that snapped at Watkins Glen with a P26 result. At Richmond however, Kyle <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thesportsrush.com\/nascar-news-kyle-busch-triggers-chase-elliotts-first-dnf-of-2025-snapping-hms-stars-remarkable-streak-of-consistent-finishes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-utm_source=\"article\" data-utm_medium=\"content\" data-utm_campaign=\"link\">Busch ended his spotless DNF streak<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-2\" class=\"data-event\">The trouble began when <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thesportsrush.com\/tag\/chase-briscoe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-utm_source=\"article\" data-utm_medium=\"content\" data-utm_campaign=\"link\">Chase Briscoe<\/a><\/strong> checked up on a restart, slid into Busch\u2019s lane, and ignited a 12-car pileup on the front stretch. Elliott, running just behind, believed he could steer clear of the chaos. But Busch, apparently unaware of his position, clipped the No. 9\u2019s rear bumper while working through the mess, sending Elliott hard into the wall and ending his night.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-3\" class=\"data-event\">Despite the setback, Elliott harbored no resentment toward <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thesportsrush.com\/tag\/kyle-busch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-utm_source=\"article\" data-utm_medium=\"content\" data-utm_campaign=\"link\">Busch<\/a><\/strong>. He said that \u201cKyle did reach out to me. He apologized for what happened. I don\u2019t have any differing opinion on it. I was never mad at him. I knew it was a mistake right when I saw it. It sucks and I hate it.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-4\" class=\"data-event\">\u201cIt obviously killed our night and our regular-season championship hopes, kind of all at the same time. But I knew it was nothing that he (Busch) did on purpose. It wasn\u2019t anything aimed at us. It was just the way that it all went down, and unfortunately, we were on the bad end of it\u2026 <\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-5\" class=\"data-event\">\u201cHe didn\u2019t realize we were all coming by down there on the bottom. Obviously, he just got through the wreck like a lot of us who had kind of been in it.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Chase Elliott said today that Kyle Busch reached out to apologize for the contact that ended Elliott\u2019s race and regular season title hopes that Richmond.
