{"id":160601,"date":"2025-08-20T08:16:37","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T08:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/160601\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T08:16:37","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T08:16:37","slug":"maxwells-documentary-in-production-seeking-performance-footage-pics-watch-the-teaser-trailer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/160601\/","title":{"rendered":"Maxwell&#8217;s documentary in production, seeking performance footage \/ pics (watch the teaser trailer)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Maxwell\u2019s<\/strong>, the legendary Hoboken, NJ bar\/club which hosted a Who\u2019s Who of puk\/indie\/alternative rock in the \u201980s, \u201990s and \u201900s (and was the location for <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6vQpW9XRiyM?si=xhg1vObhIFGMpXND\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u201cGlory Days\u201d video<\/a>) is getting a documentary made about it. Titled <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/maxwellsmovie.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">No Backstage at Maxwell\u2019s<\/a>,<\/strong> the film is directed by Paul Rachman (American Hardcore) and features interviews with <strong>Bob Mould, The Feelies, Yo La Tengo<\/strong> (who did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynvegan.com\/yo-la-tengo-pla-8\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their Hanukkah shows there<\/a> till it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynvegan.com\/pics-from-maxwe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">closed in 2013<\/a>), origin owner <strong>Steve Fallon<\/strong>, later booker\/owner <strong>Todd Abramson<\/strong>, and lots more. You can watch a teaser trailer for it below.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaxwell\u2019s wasn\u2019t just a club\u2014it was a community. It was a proving ground,\u201d says Rachman. \u201cIt was where music scenes collided, friendships were forged, and bands found both their audience and their soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film is still in production and producers have put out a call for live performance footage and photos shot at the club over the years. \u201cAny and all submissions are welcome \u2013 nothing is considered too raw or unprofessional \u2013 it\u2019s all part of history.\u201d Says producer Claudia Sullivan adds, \u201cYour memories could help preserve the legacy of this legendary space for generations to come.
