Wu Yibing is competing in the US Open for the first time since 2023.

Wu Yibing made a good start to his US Open<\/a> qualifying campaign Tuesday when he eliminated Juan Pablo Ficovich<\/a> 6-3, 6-3.<\/p>\n The Chinese star has been making his comeback from injury, with recent standout results including a run to the third round in Washington as a qualifier. This is his first time competing in the US Open<\/a> since 2023, when he reached the second round of the main draw.<\/p>\n Some of the top seeds in qualifying fell to upset defeats. Jerome Kym<\/a> ousted third seed Carlos Taberner<\/a> 7-6(2), 6-1, Kyrian Jacquet<\/a> beat seventh seed Liam Draxl<\/a> 7-5, 6-2 and Daniel Merida<\/a> upset eighth seed Dalibor Svrcina<\/a> 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.<\/p>\n Bernard Tomic<\/a>, the former No. 17 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, defeated Patrick Kypson<\/a> 6-4, 6-4.
