On today’s Hello Houston, Ernie, Frank, and Celeste talk with Harris County Commissioner for Precinct 4, Lesley Briones<\/a>, at the top of the first hour, who discusses the Harris County budget and how Commissioners are proposing to manage the $48 million budget deficit as we approach the 25-26 fiscal year.<\/p>\n

Also, in the show’s first hour, we discuss the upcoming National Battle of the Bands<\/a> event this Saturday, with TSU Band Director Brian Simmons<\/a> and National Battle of the Bands Executive Producer Derek Webber.<\/p>\n

In the show’s second hour, we hear from State Rep. Penny Morales Shaw<\/a>, who shares her thoughts on the pushback House Democrats have faced from House Republicans after returning to Texas. Then, Houston Public Media reporter Bianca Seward<\/a> discusses Senate Bill 10 and the effort to get Ten Commandments posters in Texas classrooms.<\/p>\n

Plus, we’re joined by Craig Marianno<\/a>, a professor at Texas A&M University\u2019s Nuclear Engineering Department, and Texas A&M doctorate student Jordan Hillis-Clark, who tell us about an anti-poaching program to safeguard rhinos in Africa.<\/p>\n
