Its namesake dealer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/art-news\/market\/established-new-york-gallery-tanya-bonakdar-opening-los-angeles-branch-10462\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said at the time<\/a> that she had made the decision to launch the gallery because many artists on her roster \u201cexpressed interest in having a presence on the West Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSince then, the gallery has mounted shows there for artists such as Amalia Pica, Laura Lima, Susan Philipsz, and more. In the intervening period, many other galleries have expanded their operations to LA, including David Zwirner, Michael Werner, and Lisson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn the past two months alone, two galleries with notable LA presences have shuttered. Blum, which first opened in Santa Monica in 1994, announced plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/art-news\/news\/tim-blum-unplugs-from-the-gallery-machine-1234746678\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind down operations<\/a> in July.
