The Texas Workforce Commission announced earlier in August its chairman,\u00a0Bryan Daniel, would leave the commission<\/a>\u00a0to head NYSE Texas. Prior to leading the Texas Workforce Commission, Daniel was a\u00a0member of Abbott\u2019s senior staff<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is the home of the economy,\u201d Abbott said of Texas before ringing the bell. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be the home of financial exchanges going forward. It is going to be Y\u2019all Street instead of Wall Street.\u201d<\/p>\n The Texas governor said it was important for the state to continue embracing policies that make the state attractive to businesses and corporations.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve got to keep our vision going forward,\u201d he said ahead of the market\u2019s close Wednesday. \u201cVision going forward requires us to pass policies that will continue to attract and grow businesses here in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n Abbott has bragged the exchange is a sign of Texas\u2019 economic health, along with plans to open the separate Texas Stock Exchange. The Texas Stock Exchange is slated to\u00a0open early next year<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Nasdaq, another exchange, announced in a March news release it would be opening its own\u00a0regional headquarters in Dallas<\/a>.
