The budget has a $21 million deficit due to a drop in property taxes that the city is working to balance.<\/p>\n<p>According to city officials at least 68 city employee jobs will be reduced due to the large deficit.<\/p>\n<p>Before the budget goes into effect on Oct 1 the city is hosting a series of Budget Town Hall meetings in each district to get feedback from community members on the budget.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed budget includes several city council priorities. $30.4 million will go towards affordable housing initiatives. $30.5 million will be set aside to assist the homeless population.
