The scene of the incident (HPD)<\/p>\n

A man who fatally shot his girlfriend in east Houston is claiming that he did so in self defense.<\/p>\n

The shooting was reported at around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the 3400 block of Cline Street.<\/p>\n

KPRC 2\u2019s Corley Peel is at the scene trying to learn what transpired.<\/p>\n

According to the man, he was in an argument with his girlfriend. He called 911 and pointed a gun at her, telling her to exit the home. She left and returned with a gun of her own, pointing it at him. He said this was when he shot her.<\/p>\n

Another witness inside the home gave authorities the same story, Corley learned.<\/p>\n

The man called 911 after the shooting and waited for authorities to arrive.<\/p>\n

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

HPD\u2019s Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances of the shooting.<\/p>\n
