President Trump has teased the release Thursday of \u201cirrefutable\u201d proof that \u201cfake news\u201d outlets like CNN and the New York Times \u201clied\u201d about the damage inflicted by the US strikes on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities.<\/a><\/p>\n

Trump said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth would hold an 8 a.m. press conference at the Pentagon in honor of the \u201cGreat American Pilots\u201d who carried out the bombings.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese Patriots were very upset! After 36 hours of dangerously flying through Enemy Territory, they landed, they knew the Success was LEGENDARY, and then, two days later, they started reading Fake News by CNN and The Failing New York Times. They felt terribly!\u201d Trump said in a Truth Social post.<\/p>\n

Jake Tapper defended CNN\u2019s reporting on Wednesday. CNN<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately for them and, as usual, solely for the purpose of demeaning PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, the Fake News (Times and CNN) lied and totally misrepresented the Facts, none of which they had (because it was too soon, there were no Facts out there yet!).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe News Conference will prove both interesting and irrefutable. Enjoy!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Trump has been adamant that the strikes wiped out Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities and set the program back decades \u2014 despite a preliminary intelligence assessment, which was leaked to CNN and others, suggesting Tehran could salvage it within months.<\/p>\n

The commander-in-chief has repeatedly trashed the lefty outlets \u2014 accusing them of diminishing the pilots\u2019 results.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe it was total obliteration. I believe they didn\u2019t have a chance to get anything out, because we acted very fast,\u201d he said at the NATO summit on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, Trump added: \u201cYou should be praising those people instead of trying to find out by getting me, by trying to go and get me. You\u2019re hurting those people.\u201d<\/p>\n

CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper defended his network\u2019s reporting Wednesday, saying: \u201cTrump and his administration are going after shooting the messengers in an increasingly ugly way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tapper insisted the scrutiny of Trump\u2019s strikes was not directed at service members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe key questions for the American people in the world are simply about the degree of success of the operation, and the current state of Iran\u2019s nuclear weapons program and what the intelligence \u2014 not the politicians \u2014 what the intelligence reveals,\u201d Tapper said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know yet whether this administration is accurately portraying what happened in Iran or not. We don\u2019t.
