{"id":164330,"date":"2025-08-21T17:29:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T17:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/164330\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T17:29:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T17:29:14","slug":"utmb-launches-new-institute-cardiovascular-medicine-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/164330\/","title":{"rendered":"UTMB launches new institute, cardiovascular medicine department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOUSTON \u2014 The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston has launched two major advancements to elevate cardiovascular care, research and education in the Houston area and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>A $30 million grant from the Sealy &amp; Smith Foundation \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/houston\/news\/2015\/03\/10\/local-hospital-gets-75m-gift-for-major-renovation.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a longtime supporter of UTMB<\/a> \u2014 will establish the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute. At the same time, the school has announced its new Department of Cardiovascular Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Renowned interventional cardiologist and academic leader Hani Jneid will lead both. He will be the first chair of the new department and the inaugural director of the institute.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For me, this is a lifetime work. I am superbly honored and privileged, and the good news is I have a wonderful team with me of cardiologists, practitioners, nurses, technicians and staff,&#8221; Jneid said in an interview with the Houston Business Journal. &#8220;We are building the future main clinic of the South when it comes to cardiovascular centers and categorical operations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Got a news tip or story idea?
