HOUSTON \u2014 A violent robbery inside a Galleria-area hotel was caught on camera, showing suspects beating a man and stealing thousands of dollars, jewelry and designer bags.<\/p>\n
The robbery happened inside the DoubleTree Hotel on Westheimer near Sage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Surveillance footage shows two men calmly walking into the hotel lobby before ambushing the victim. The man, who asked to be identified as Bryton, told KHOU 11 he sensed something was wrong even before entering the hotel.<\/p>\n
“They were posted across the street and waited for my car to pull up,” Bryton said.<\/p>\n
He said the suspects drove up in a white car and parked next to him. Feeling uneasy, Bryton asked the hotel valet to investigate.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo see who is onside me. He said a young Black dude\u2026 nah I ain\u2019t getting out,\u201d Bryton recalled.<\/p>\n
The valet then alerted the hotel\u2019s security guard.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the security guard came, he said, \u2018I got you. Ain\u2019t nothing going to happen to you,\u2019\u201d Bryton said.
\u201cHe scanned me to go to the hotel. And it locked\u2014I didn\u2019t think nobody was going to get in there.\u201d<\/p>\n
But moments after checking in, Bryton said the men were somehow inside. That\u2019s when they attacked.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought they were fixing to kill me, and I was going to fight back,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t do nothing. I didn\u2019t see that security. Hear him or see him come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bryton shared photos of his injuries, which KHOU 11 has chosen not to air due to their graphic nature. He says bones around his eye are broken and that he now needs surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope my eye isn\u2019t permanent,\u201d he said. \u201cMy vision is blurred on the right side. Real bad headaches.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bryton had just returned from a nearby poker game before the attack. He said the suspects stole thousands of dollars in poker winnings, along with designer bags and jewelry.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to catch up with them. I don\u2019t want to do nothing to them,\u201d Bryton said. \u201cI don\u2019t think they should be doing that kind of stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
