DoorDash is delivering via Flytrex drone in Dallas-Fort Worth.<\/p>\n
DoorDash is expanding both the reach of its drone delivery offering and the range of drone technology providers it collaborates with.<\/p>\n
The on-demand delivery platform is moving a drone delivery service in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex from pilot to full-scale operation. Partnering with\u00a0end-to-end drone delivery company Flytrex,\u00a0DoorDash<\/a> is enabling consumers in parts of Little Elm and Frisco, Texas \u00a0to order food from dozens of local and national restaurants, including Papa Johns and The Brass Tap, between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. CT, with delivery via Flytrex\u2019s autonomous drone fleet.<\/p>\n This joint effort marks Flytrex\u2019s first third-party app integration, enabling customers to place orders directly through the DoorDash app. Eligible customers can select drone delivery at checkout, with orders prepared at restaurants and flown to their homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n The service currently reaches over 30,000 households and more than 100,000 residents, with additional Dallas-Fort Worth sites launching soon. Flytrex drones can carry up to 6.6 pounds and next-generation models will increase capacity to 8.8 pounds.<\/p>\n Flytrex has also implemented advanced drone traffic control technology, enabling multiple drone operators to serve overlapping communities while safely managing flight paths through automated systems, an innovation that broadens suburban coverage.<\/p>\n DoorDash initially launched drone delivery with\u00a0Wing, the on-demand drone delivery provider supported by Google parent company Alphabet. in Australia in 2022.
