The funeral services for Chicago Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg will be aired live Friday, the team announced.<\/p>\n

According to the Cubs, the private funeral service for Sandberg, who was elected to Baseball\u2019s Hall of Fame in 2005, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, and will be closed to the public.<\/p>\n

Those services will be available for public viewing however, with the Cubs providing a feed for the funeral beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m., with the funeral itself beginning at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

How can fans watch the funeral?<\/p>\n

NBC Chicago will carry the feed of the funeral beginning at 10 a.m. on the station\u2019s 24\/7 Streaming News channel<\/a>, which you can find here and on many streaming devices and services.<\/p>\n

Cubs fans can also watch the funeral on NBC Chicago<\/a> and Telemundo Chicago\u2019s websites and mobile apps beginning at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Will the Cubs have a public memorial for Sandberg?<\/p>\n

Fans will be given an opportunity to pay tribute to the legendary star with an event at Gallagher Way, located next door to Wrigley Field on the city\u2019s North Side.<\/p>\n

According to the team, the service will be shown on the videoboard on Gallagher Way, <\/a>with fans encouraged to leave tributes to Sandberg at his statue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cubs organization is grateful for the continued support of Cubs fans and their expression of compassion during this difficult time,\u201d said Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney. \u201cBeyond his family, Ryno\u2019s great loves were spending time with teammates and other Cubs players and interacting with Cubs fans. We hope this public tribute provides everyone touched by Ryne\u2019s incredible talent as a player and person an opportunity to honor his legacy and pay their respects.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cubs will also display Sandberg\u2019s personal collection of memorabilia, which the team says is now part of the Wrigley Field archives.<\/p>\n

Tickets will not be required to attend the event, but fans are asked to bring nonperishable food items, which will be donated to Nourishing Hope and Most Blessed Trinity Food Pantry, according to the Cubs.<\/p>\n

How else have the Cubs honored Sandberg this season?<\/p>\n

During a home game the Saturday after Sandberg passed away in late July, the Cubs all wore blue jerseys with the No. 23 on the back<\/a>, paying homage to the iconic uniform that Sandberg and the Cubs wore during their 1980s run of success that saw the team win multiple NL East division titles.<\/p>\n

The team auctioned those jerseys off for charity.<\/p>\n
