Phil in a surprising way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Oscar winner is confirmed to narrate four performances of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/beethoven\/\" id=\"auto-tag_beethoven_1\" data-tag=\"beethoven\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beethoven<\/a>\u2019s Egmont under the direction of music and artistic director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/gustavo-dudamel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_gustavo-dudamel_1\" data-tag=\"gustavo-dudamel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gustavo Dudamel<\/a> in February 2026. Described as a \u201cbold reimagining,\u201d the production casts Blanchett as Egmont, a role that has traditionally been filled by a male narrator. Credit for the new take and the gender swap goes to Slave Play breakout Jeremy O. Harris. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe piece, set to feature soprano Elena Villal\u00f3n, is said to tackle themes of resistance, freedom and heroism. It is part of a program that will open with the world premiere of Ricardo Lorenz\u2019s\u00a0Humboldt\u2019s Nature, a work inspired by the South American expeditions of Alexander von Humboldt, the visionary philosopher and Beethoven contemporary, and also feature pianist\u00a0Yunchan Lim performing Schumann\u2019s masterful Piano Concerto.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPerformances are set to take place at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Feb. 12-15, 2026. Tickets for the 25\/26 season are now <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/laphil.com\" target=\"_blank\">available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tBlanchett starred in Australian director Warwick Thornton\u2019s The New Boy in a role that the filmmaker swapped from a male priest to a female nun as inspired by the actress\u2019 involvement. She also played Bob Dylan in 2007\u2019s I\u2019m Not There. She had the industry buzzing about powerful conductors thanks to an acclaimed and award winning performance in Todd Field\u2019s T\u00e1r. She\u2019s next expected at the Venice Film Festival to support a role in Jim Jarmusch\u2019s latest film, Father Mother Sister Brother. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn addition to Slave Play, Harris wrote Daddy, which opened in the U.K. at Almeida Theatre in March 2022. His Hollywood credits include co-writing A24\u2019s Zola alongside director Janicza Bravo, HBO\u2019s Euphoria and Irma Vep. He is currently the artistic director for the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where his most recent play, Spirit of the People, premiered this summer.
